As a mother of young children I find it very hard to travel my in laws live an 8 hour drive from me and we like to go as often as we can I like traveling by car better than plane because if I go by plane it takes basically the same amount of time and once we’re all packed up in the car it’s easier just to stay in the car…with that said I wanted to know if anyone has ideas of how to entertain my children other than with iPads and technology.

Try traveling at night so that your kids can sleep in the car.

I saw a really cute idea online- take some cereal in a ziplock and bring along a string let your children make their own cereal necklaces in the car it may be a little crumby.(but I find traveling always leaves my car a mess…) when they are finished making the necklaces they can munch on the cereal hall trip long 🙂

We like to leave at 6 in the afternoon so the drivers also still have a night of sleep when we arrive to the destination

Bring lanyard and make necklaces (it’s so out of style but it kept me busy when I was a kid)

Go to amazing savings and let your kids pick out projects and fun things to do in the car they have cute sticker books and things like that.

I am traveling 8+ hours to my in laws as well. I decide to start our travels abt 2/3 am so my husband and I ( we split the drive) can get some sleep before we leave. Also the kids can sleep some of the ride. I found magna doodle boards worked great for the long ride, u can find them cheap in the dollar store. Another idea I put some paint in a big Ziploc bag and tape it well to the window, it basically becomes a finger painting activity but sans mess! If ur up to it u can initiate a I spy game , either a color car passing, or count an object that is frequent thru the drive. Good luck, have a safe trip and a kosher and happy pesach! 🙂
