My Housekeeper recently asked for a raise from $12 to $13.

    What is the going rate?

I just started paying $14 an hour for a housekeeper. I know it sounds like alot, and it is, but it really depends on the quality of the work you’re getting. She has been with me for 10 years and is a powerhouse worker. I tried others that were less per hour and was very disappointed, so now I am happy to pay $14.
It’s all about the value you get for what you pay! (in my humble opinion)

I don’t think quality has anything to do with price. They all feel (at least most) they have a tough job and are amazing at it – and are overworked and underpaid.
The range is 10-15 ironically in Lakewood its higher than Brooklyn and Monsey.
You can find someone for $10 who is amazing and someone 14 who is really lazy.
I pay $12 and have an amazing lady – who works hard, gets the job done and does more than just clean.
It’s basically hit or miss 🙂

I agree with you, Rachel. Just saying it’s worth the higher price if she’s good.

my teacher has a oper look it up but in my humble opinion we should start seeing if a clean house is really that important is it what defines you it is such a pressure and standard that we should not be following

I think it’s very important to have cleaning help. It helps me and I think I work very hard. (Most people do.) It all boils down to who you are and what you were brought up with. For example lets say your husband likes the house to be perfect. With a little help it can make things less stressful. I don’t know if it’s a standard that people try to live up to or just a great way to have a helping hand. I think keeping a neat home is healthy for kids as well. But to have a lady cuz you are lazy is a diff story. You can teach your kids to cook clean and do everything. They don’t have to be spoiled. I’m not sure why it would not be worth while to have one if you can afford it.

A clean house IS important to most people but nobody said that it is what defines us. Some of us just enjoy it and feel it helps give more time to our families.

I think $13 is fair. It is hard work & $13 is pretty low overall.

I live near the wawa. I called tons of phone numbers from different people. I got lots of commitments but they never showed up. or the ladies didn’t answer calls or texts. I’m really frustrated!! I’ve been already over a week without someone steady that comes when she promises

If you share your cleaning lady with someone then you should ask them how much their paying because a lot of times if you give a raise they will raise the other family’s so you should definitely look into what the other family’s are paying
