PHL Airport Finally Has Real Kosher Grab & Go — And It’s a Big Deal

As frequent flyers, finding kosher food in airports has sometimes been stressful.

Passing by dozens of stores with nothing kosher in sight… You’re searching random terminals, checking old YouTube videos, texting friends, googling, kosher near me’ing, asking “is there anything kosher in this airport?” and hoping maybe there’s one packaged sandwich hidden somewhere near a newsstand.

At PHL — Philadelphia International Airport — those days are finally over!

In general, living in the greater Lakewood area, we prefer flying out of Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) over Newark for a few reasons.

First, we’re big fans of American Airlines, and PHL is a major hub for them. Flights are often cheaper there — especially on American — and they also offer a larger selection of nonstop international routes to places like Mexico City, Amsterdam, Rome, and Aruba.

Pricing can vary, so it’s always worth checking both airports, but for domestic trips especially, PHL is cheaper around 75% of the time in our experience.

Another big advantage is parking. At PHL, parking is usually under $30 per day, while Newark is $50— and the “better” rates require advance reservations.

One more random but true fact: flights from PHL to Dallas somehow often are shorter than from Newark. We’ve flown that route many times and noticed it consistently!

Welcome PKS Kosher at PHL Airport

PKS Kosher, which already operates in multiple stadiums as well as at PKS By the Shore in Deal, has now expanded into PHL Airport.
PHL now has the first fully kosher grab-and-go market inside a major U.S. airport — and I, for one, am super excited.

Until now there were never any kosher options in PHL so this is a major upgrade for
Kosher travelers!

PKS Kosher just opened (Today) inside Terminal A-West at Philadelphia International Airport, located between gates A17 and A18 — right past the lounges in the international terminal area. And the best part?

You don’t have to second guess anything.

The entire market is kosher.

No checking labels. No wondering if something is approved. No digging through ingredients.

You can finally walk into an airport market and actually relax.

Our Team Checked It Out

We went to check it out, and honestly, it’s awesome to finally see this happening in a major airport.

The setup looks clean, modern, organized, and easy to shop quickly before a flight.

For frum travelers, business travelers, families, or honestly anyone looking for kosher-certified packaged food while traveling, this is super exciting!

If you’re flying through PHL anytime soon, definitely check it out.

What They Have

This is a true grab-and-go kosher market.

There’s no hot food right now — but they packed the place with exactly what travelers actually need:

  • Ready-made kosher sandwiches
  • Wraps
  • Salads
  • Snacks
  • Candy
  • Drinks
  • Protein snacks
  • Grab-and-go refrigerated food
  • Travel snacks for flights

Coming to New York Too?

It also appears PKS may be preparing to expand into New York as well…

Although NYC airports and Newark already offer some kosher options — with most even having two — a fully dedicated kosher market would be a total game changer for travelers.

We’re incredibly excited to see the growth and are wishing the entire PKS team tons of success.
